Our Commitment to Economic Research and Development
Who We Are
The Decimalytics Institute for Economic Advancement (DIEA) was established to strengthen the national discourse on economic conditions affecting small businesses, marginalized communities, and regional economies. As a scholar practitioner institute, we integrate academic rigor with real world application to advance research that is accessible, credible, and directly relevant to communities.

Our Mission
DIEA exists to produce clean, transparent, and methodologically sound economic research that enhances public understanding and guides informed decision making. Our work brings visibility to economic conditions that are often overlooked by national indicators, especially in underserved and historically marginalized communities.
We translate complex economic systems into insights that can be used by policymakers, small business owners, funders, and community leaders.
Core Research Priorities
Small Business and Entrepreneurship Economics
Our research examines the interaction between market conditions and the financial realities of small firms.
Marginalized Economic Advancement
DIEA investigates the structural, financial, and institutional barriers that impact Black wealth, household stability, and long term economic mobility.
Regional Economic Systems
We study how population shifts, labor dynamics, housing conditions, and infrastructure investment shape local economies.
Macroeconomic Transmission
We assess how national trends such as inflation, interest rate changes, and federal policy decisions influence household budgets, credit access, and community stability.
Research Methodology
As scholar-practitioners, we employ:
- Quantitative research and statistical modeling
- Small business and household economic analysis
- Regional economic comparisons
- Policy interpretation and translation
- Applied and narrative-based insights
- Data visualization and public-facing interpretation
This combination strengthens both the academic integrity and the practical utility of our work.
Quarterly Research Commitment
DIEA publishes four flagship economic reports each year:
- Q1: Inflation and Business Survival
- Q2: Black Entrepreneurship and Capital Access
- Q3: Regional Labor Markets and Workforce Transitions
- Q4: Household Wealth and Financial Stability
Each publication is accompanied by policy briefs and supplemental data when available.
National Value and Impact
DIEA’s work contributes to:
- More accurate representation of underserved communities
- Stronger policy alignment with real economic conditions
- Better resource allocation for small businesses
- Increased visibility of equity-centered economic analysis
- Community and municipal-level-decision-making
By elevating the intersection of economics and lived experience, DIEA demonstrates that research can be both academically grounded and practically transformative.
